Small Space, big impression
You don’t need a big room to have a beautiful and functional design, as was the case with this project.
I have met with a family that wanted to optimize space in their home. They had a spare room that had no specific purpose: it was a place that sometimes was a guest room, and sometimes a storage for hiding all things that are not to be seen when company shows up unexpectedly. We all have that space!
Not surprisingly, this space did not make the family happy and needed some TLC.
Home owners loved to have fun, and wanted to make sure their living space reflected that. We discussed their love for southern Mexican and Moroccan styles, ornate patterns and bright colors. We have used an Ikea day bed to create a plush seating arrangement that turns into a comfortable king size bed when guests come to visit. Add some bright colors and a golden mirror, sprinkle in fun window treatments, and a new room was born.
Now the space is used on a daily basis. It serves as work from home space, reading nook for the kids, a zen space for mom (we all need on of those) and, of course, a guest room for visiting family and friends…And only sometimes storage.
